Graduation Pictures on Charleston Battery | Caroline

Meet Caroline.

Caroline lives in Columbia and graduated this Spring. She knew she wanted to do her senior portraits in Charleston so she could take advantage of that classic Charleston charm. Originally we planned to do her shoot during her Spring Break, but unfortunately with Covid and lockdowns we had to reschedule for a little closer to summer. It ended up working out perfectly though because the whole city was in bloom and the weather was absolutely perfect!

Caroline wanted her graduation pictures on the Charleston Battery and Rainbow Row, so we spent the afternoon wandering around all the beautiful alleys and side streets along East Bay. One of my favorite things about this session was all of Caroline’s outfits! I am all about dresses during photoshoots. There’s just something so fun about twirling and spinning in a dress, and they usually make for my favorite photos. Caroline decided to go with not one, not two, but three dresses! I always recommend that my seniors choose outfits in a variety of colors, and Caroline took that to heart. Her first dress was a beautiful red and white polkadot dress which added a lot of bold pops of colors against all the brick walls and ivy we could find, including one of my favorite spots, the Heyward-Washington House.

For her second look, Caroline chose a full-length floral dress so we hit up the Battery and Rainbow Row for some beautiful pastel colors. Caroline has the most striking blue eyes, and some of my favorite images in this outfit were the ones against the yellow house with the blue shutters. Her final look of the day was a bold yellow dress, which paired really well with her emerald green cap and gown. By this time the wind had picked up like crazy, so it was an adventure trying to keep the cap on and the tassels in the right place – so much harder than you’d imagine! Despite the wind, I’m so glad Caroline brought her cap and gown for some photos. It was so fun getting to celebrate her finishing high school and starting on a new journey!
