I got to spend double the time with Meredith during her family vacation in Charleston – once for a senior portrait shoot and once with her extended family for a family session. I loved getting to wander the city with this sweet girl! We spent the afternoon of her senior session stopping at every window box and pink house we could find, from the cobblestones of Chalmers Street to one of the most popular Charleston photo spots – the Mills House! (For those of you who are unfamiliar with this famous Charleston hotel, it has a fascinating history. During the Civil War, General Robert E. Lee was staying at the Mills House when the Great Fire of 1861 started and he watched it sweep across the peninsula from the balcony (or roof) before escaping to safety.) After changing into the cutest little blue dress, we headed down to the Battery and then to City Hall where we found a lantern and Meredith humored me with reenacting Singin’ in the Rain. She’s awesome like that. If you’ve never seen the famous scene of Gene Kelly dancing in the rain and spinning around lanterns, check out our inspiration here.
Meredith’s shoot wrapped up at Folly Beach where we played in the water and danced in the sand. Such a relief to get out of that summer heat! American history and classic movies aside, I had such a fun time with Meredith during her senior shoot! She was so easy to photograph and completely willing to do whatever crazy idea I suggested – smiling and laughing the whole time. I don’t often get to photograph my out-of-town seniors a second time, so it was a special treat getting to catch up with Meredith just a couple days later for our second shoot (where we waited out the rain under a gazebo…but that’s another story.) I can’t wait to see where life takes you, Meredith!
